Frequently Asked Questions

1 How many days are security recordings stored?

Retention depends on the number of cameras, resolution, frame rate, compression, recording mode and disk capacity. Motion or event recording may extend the period. Use our HDD calculator or request a project-specific calculation.

2 Can I view the cameras remotely on my phone?

Yes. Compatible recorders and IP cameras can be viewed with an internet connection and an authorised account. During installation, we configure the supported app, permissions and secure access.

3 Do security cameras record during a power cut?

A standard system stops when power is lost. A correctly sized UPS can keep cameras, the recorder and network equipment running for a limited time; actual duration depends on load and battery condition.

4 How can blind spots be reduced?

Entrances, routes and critical zones should be assessed on site. Camera angle, lens, mounting height, obstacles and night lighting are planned together, with additional cameras where required.

5 Will an alarm work if power or internet fails?

It depends on the equipment. A panel with a healthy backup battery may continue during a power cut. Remote notifications may also require a supported cellular module if the internet connection is unavailable.

6 What should I consider when choosing an alarm system?

Consider doors and windows, floor area, pets, communication needs and backup power. Wired, wireless or hybrid sensors should be selected according to the building and verified by a site survey.

7 Are fire and intrusion alarms the same system?

No. They serve different purposes and use different detectors. Fire systems detect smoke, heat or related conditions, while intrusion systems detect unauthorised entry. They can be planned together in an integrated project.

8 How often should a fire alarm be checked?

The schedule depends on the equipment, project requirements, manufacturer instructions and applicable obligations. The panel, detectors, call points, sounders and power supply should be tested and recorded regularly.

9 Can an ANPR system read plates at night?

Yes, with a suitable camera, illumination and installation. Vehicle speed, angle, distance, headlights and ambient light affect accuracy, so the lane should be evaluated and tested before commissioning.

10 Is a site survey necessary for camera installation?

A survey is especially important for multi-camera systems. Entrances, blind spots, cabling routes, network and power infrastructure are checked so camera quantity and equipment can be planned correctly.

11 What does the IP67 rating mean?

IP67 means the device is completely protected against dust and can withstand temporary immersion in water up to the conditions specified by the manufacturer. It is common on outdoor cameras, but it does not automatically mean the device is suitable for permanent underwater use.

12 What does the IK10 rating mean?

IK10 is a high mechanical-impact protection rating. It indicates resistance to impacts up to 20 joules under the relevant test standard and is often used for anti-vandal cameras and equipment in public areas.
